PROFESSOR

Jorge Luis Carillo

Originally from Colombia, Jorge Carrillo is a guitarist graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota. During his education, he participated in masterclasses with Eduardo Fernández, Costas Cotsiolis, and Hopkinson Smith. His musical curiosity led him to explore the repertoire of classical guitar, traditional Latin American music (boleros, tango, Brazilian music), as well as urban music (rock, jazz, salsa).

He has won various competitions with flutist Raquel Murillo, including the "Jóvenes interpretes" competition of the Bank of the Republic of Colombia, "Jóvenes Talentos" of the Alliance Française of Bogotá, and "Laboratorios de Nueva Música" of the City Hall of Bogotá. Recently, he created the project "Dichterliebe électrique" with tenor Fernando Cuellar, in which they reinterpret the classical lieder repertoire for piano and voice in electric guitar and amplified voice formation. The duo performed live for Swiss Radio Television in 2022.

Based in Switzerland since 2008, Jorge wears a dual hat as a guitarist and singer (Master's degree in Concert and Vocal Pedagogy awarded by the HEM of Geneva). He teaches music to primary school classes in Geneva. Additionally, he obtained a Suzuki guitar method certificate (courses provided by the Suzuki Association of Peru in Lima).
